Selfie do's & don'ts

Do's

  • Face the camera however you like. Whatever's going on in your selfie, the angle, the look, the mood, will carry over, to one degree or another, into your portrait.
  • You can assume whatever expression you want. Laughing, crying, snarling, seductive, even looking toward the Heavens. I will replicate it in the portrait.
  • Make sure your face is visible.
  • Wear as little make-up as possible. Bare skin gives me the most to work with.
  • Use flat, even light: face a window on an overcast day.
  • Stand against a plain background.
  • Hold the phone at eye level, at arm's length or a little farther.
  • Shoot it vertical, at full resolution.
  • Just you. Not your dog, not your cat, not your bestie, not your significant other.
  • Glasses? If you wear them in the photo, they'll be in your portrait. Don't want them? Don't wear them.

Don'ts

  • No nudity. Swimwear is fine.
  • No harsh sun, flash, or ring-light glare.
  • No piercing or other jewelry unless you want it in the portrait.
  • No hats or face coverings.
  • No busy background.
  • No wide-angle close-ups, unless you want that look to carry over into your portrait.
  • No filters, beauty mode, or edits.
  • No one else in the frame.

The rules

Ten a month.
Then it's gone.

  1. IFive styles. Ten portraits each, every month. Each style shows its own slots left.
  2. IIThe price climbs every day until the month ends, and faster as slots sell. Your price is locked the moment you claim.
  3. IIIDelivered in 72 hours or less, as one digital file: 2160 × 3840 pixels (9:16, portrait). The same size for everyone, whatever your phone.
  4. IVSold out means gone. On the 1st, the whole collection retires for good. Never to be seen again, except in the Gallery.
